▾ Recruitment rules (OTM-R)
The Biology Centre CAS has committed to respect The European Charter for Researchers and The Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and holds prestigious HR Excellence in Research Award (HR Award). Recruitment of researchers fulfils the principles of the Open, transparent, merit-based recruitment of researchers (OTM-R), which ensures unified course of selection procedure at all scientific institutes of the Biology Centre.

Fundamental principles of the OTM-R are openness, transparency and non-discrimination. Candidate requirements differ according to the nature of workload and are always specified in relevant job offer. Job offers are posted on this website and on other specialized portals. Selection procedures for research positions at the Biology Centre consist of two rounds (1st round: applications and subsequent shortlisting of candidates for the second round, 2nd round: interviews). For every selection procedure a selection committee of three members minimum is established, includes HR Department representative and is gender balanced. All candidates are informed on result of the selection procedure and every selection procedure complies with the effective EU regulation on the personal data protection.

Job description:

The Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences is the fourth largest department of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It brings together five scientific institutions:

Institute of Entomology
Institute of Hydrobiology
Institute of Parasitology
Institute of Plant Molecular Biology
Institute of Soil Biology

We announce a selection procedure for five institutional directors of the above-mentioned institutes for a new five-year term of office starting 1 July 2022.

• Conceptual, organisational, economic and personnel support of scientific research and other activities in the relevant scientific field
• Evaluating scientific work and assessing the performance of subordinate staff
• Ensuring the management of financial resources under the approved budget
• Announcing vacancies for positions in scientific institutes
• Setting salaries, job descriptions, job classifications of the employees of scientific institutes following the internal regulations of the BC



Natural Sciences, especially Biological Sciences



Other requirements:

• Have you fulfilled legal conditions based on § 17, par. 4) - 6) of Act No. 341/2005 Coll., on the Public Research Institutions?
• Are you a holder of a University degree in the field of natural sciences, especially biological sciences?
• Do you have a scientific or scientific-pedagogical qualification?
• Have you achieved significant results in your scientific career?
• Do you have organisational skills and experience?
• Can you maintain your moral integrity?
• Your knowledge of the English language is on an excellent level? (the Czech language is not mandatory)
